Killing Me Softly: Seeing Ourselves is an online exhibition of book, movie, magazine and television imagery that holds personal significance to an individual's understanding of themselves - more specifically, their sexual orientation and identity. And like Roberta Flack in the song referenced in the exhibition's title, seeing one's inner being and desires reflected in another's art can be unsettling and exhilarating at the same time.

Each contributor has identified the first time something literary touched them or spurred them into a greater self-awareness. Whether it was a blow to the gut, or an "a-ha" moment, these images acted as mirrors in which we saw our non-straight selves reflected for the first time.
